Thesis
Price averages carry the signal: own a name only while its 9-day EMA rides above its 20-day and price holds the 50-day. Entries are timed by the cross; the 50-day keeps the method out of downtrends.
Lineage
Classic dual-EMA swing method with a trend filter; the retail standard descended from Donchian and Appel (MACD's ancestry).
The regime that kills it
Sideways chop. Every cross reverses within days, and the method pays the spread on both legs each time -- crossover systems lose money in exactly the markets that generate the most crossings.
